Johnson City Baptist Center
The Johnson City Baptist Center (JCBC) is a ministry center owned and operated by the Holston Baptist Association, dedicated to serving children and families in the inner city of Johnson City. Through ongoing relational ministry, regular bible studies and programs, and practical support, the JCBC seeks to meet both physical and spiritual needs while pointing people to Christ. This ministry provides churches and individuals with meaningful opportunities to engage in hands-on ministry among underserved families in our own region.
Churches can partner with the ministry in a variety of ways, including sending weekly volunteers to help lead Bible studies and children’s programs, supporting the ministry financially, or organizing teams for summer outreach efforts such as Backyard Bible Clubs, sports camps, and Vacation Bible Schools. Individuals and churches with specialized skills or resources are also encouraged to connect with the ministry to explore additional ways to serve.
For many believers, the Johnson City Baptist Center offers a unique opportunity to engage in inner-city ministry for the first time, broadening their understanding of local missions while making a tangible impact in the lives of children and families in the community.
To learn more or explore opportunities to serve, contact the JCBC's Director of Ministries, Anna Huggins, at anna@holstonba.org or by contacting the HBA Office at 423-929-1196.
TN Baptist Disaster Relief Team
The HBA Disaster Relief Team exists as a way for our churches to serve communities in times of crisis through trained, Gospel-centered disaster response. Working in cooperation with Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief as part of the broader Southern Baptist Disaster Relief network.
Our disaster relief team is made up of trained volunteers from HBA churches who are equipped to serve in a variety of capacities, including cleanup, flood recovery, chainsaw work, chaplaincy, and rebuild efforts. The association also maintains trucks and trailers outfitted for disaster relief efforts, allowing teams to respond quickly and effectively when needs arise.
The HBA Disaster Relief Team provides churches with a meaningful opportunity to meet tangible needs while sharing the Gospel of Christ during difficult moments in people’s lives. Whether responding to flooding, storms, or other emergencies, volunteers serve as the hands and feet of Christ by offering practical help, compassion, and the hope of the Gospel to those impacted by disaster.
Members of HBA churches who are interested in serving can contact the HBA Office at hba@holstonba.org or 423-929-1196 to learn more about local involvement opportunities. Individuals can also learn more about Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief here, or register for upcoming training events here.
Appalachian Trail Ministry
The Appalachian Trail Ministry is an outreach ministry of the Holston Baptist Association that seeks to engage hikers on the Appalachian Trail with the Gospel of Christ. With thousands of hikers traveling through our region each year from around the world, the Appalachian Trail presents a unique mission field in our own backyard.
Through this ministry, churches and individuals from the association can partner together in evangelistic outreach along the trail through conversations, hospitality, prayer, worship gatherings, and Gospel witness. The ministry also provides organized opportunities and guidance for churches seeking to engage in this unique form of outreach.
Two annual opportunities to get involved include the Trail Feed Worship Service, held each year in early May, and our Trail Days outreach efforts, where ministry teams intentionally engage hikers with the Gospel during one of the trail community’s largest annual gatherings.
